Lots of reports flying around earlier that switching to crappy electric cars is really biting Ford in the butt, with them said to be losing $60k for each one of the stupid things they make.

Ford loses $60,000 on every EV.
For the EV division to pencil out, Ford needs millions of middle-class buyers to buy millions of new gas vehicles. Those buyers then pay federal taxes to fund the tax credits for high-income EV customers.
